About Me…

Hello…welcome to my website! My name is Karen Bright…and I am K Bright Creatives. Thank you for coming to my site to learn more about me and about the handcrafted products that I offer.

My husband and I currently live in Birmingham, Alabama. We’ve been here for about 15 years, moving here after my husband retired from 28 years of service in the Marine Corps. We have three big kids (ages 21, 23, and 31) and what seems to be an endless stream of furry family members.

For as far back as I can remember, I have always created and have always loved it (and had a knack for it). I really like researching and trying out new creative project ideas…some of which work out great and then sometimes not so much. But that’s the fun about it, right? Occasionally I’ll come across a hobby that I really enjoy and it sticks with me. Years ago I began baking and decorating cakes for special events like birthdays or weddings. Those were so fun for me to make…especially when a customer would ask for a cake around a specific theme or idea they had. I liked the challenge of coming up with a cake idea and plan to make it something unique and special.

I started making t-shirt blankets a few years ago. Our youngest daughter was a Senior in high school, and she had collected a massive amount of t-shirts from all the different sports and activities she participated in during her elementary to high school years. She couldn’t part with them but would probably never wear any of them again. So after some research on the process of making a blanket using all her items, I got to work. Her blanket came out huge and AMAZING!!! She loves it so much. Each piece used on her blanket holds a special memory to her. When her friends and others saw her blanket, I began getting asked to make more. And so it began! Each blanket I make is a new, fun, and unique project. That makes it so fun for me to make and each one is given special attention to make it the best memory keepsake possible.

Since I am a creator at heart, I am always open to suggestions on new product ideas or even adding to the products I currently make. If you have a special request, feel free to message me. I welcome any feedback.
