FAQs

What kinds of material or shirts can you work with?

I can use almost anything that is made of fabric. Can be anything from really thin wicking-type fabric used in some sports attire….up to thicker materials like canvas, sweatshirts. If my needle will sew through it, I will use it. Not able to use leather or anything really tough/thick. There are some materials that present a challenge…like silks, nylons or anything that cannot withstand the heat of an iron as every item is reinforced with an iron-on interfacing as an additional layer.

What if I have a shirt with designs on front and back, but I only want you to include the back design?

That is not a problem and is requested all the time. Once you have your shirts and stuff collected, if there are any designs you absolutely DO NOT want included, just mark that side of the shirt with a piece of masking tape or with a note pinned to it. Simply write ‘Do Not Use” on it.

I am looking to have something special made using clothes of my deceased loved one. Can you make a blanket using these clothes?

A blanket using those clothes would be such a special thing to have…and useful at the same time. More than likely I could make a blanket out of those pieces…would really just depend what type of clothes and materials you have. Please feel free to message or call me and we can discuss further.

How many shirts do you need to make a blanket?

Different layout styles require a different number of shirts designs. Take a look at the Tshirt blanket page for more details on number of designs needed for specific blanket sizes. Keep in mind that any shirts that have designs on both sides would count as 2 blocks.

What is your turnaround time?

It really all just depends on how many orders there are in front of you. This is not my full-time job…YET…but maybe one day. It takes me about a week to complete one blanket start to finish but it can be done faster if my schedule allows.

In general, I would say my turnaround time could be estimated at about 2-3 weeks. But I can give you a better idea of the schedule at the time an order is submitted.

If you are ordering for a special date or event, just let me know and I can make an effort to work around this for you.

Do you offer shipping for orders from out of your area?

Absolutely, YES! Of course it is more convenient if you happen to live nearby. But don’t let the stop you from ordering from me. All you have to do is ship your shirts to me. I share the cost of return shipping to you and only charge $10.00 for the return shipping the finished blanket back to you. Easy peasy!

Can you make a blanket with baby clothes?

Absolutely, yes! A baby clothes blanket would be so adorable and a really great way to keep and use those precious clothes in a new way.

Are the blankets you make like quilts? What is the difference?

The blankets that I make are technically not quilts. The top layer is made up of the t-shirts or other clothing items I’m given. The backing is a layer of fleece or flannel. However, there is no inside layer….and that is the difference. A quilt would have an inside layer of batting and the entire thing would have a stitched pattern all over the entire thing. Many people use the terms ‘quilt’ and ‘blanket’ interchangeably so it can get confusing. I have much respect for people that do actual quilting and the work that goes into it. Maybe one day I’ll try my hand at quilting, but I don’t have the right equipment for that right now.
